GoFan Fee Transparency in California

Written by GoFan | Aug 12, 2024 5:30:00 PM

As of July 1, 2024, California Senate Bill 478 requires all fees for purchases to be disclosed at the outset of a transaction and represented in the actual purchase price.

Fee Display for Consumers in California

Otherwise known as the “Hidden Fees Statute,” the law essentially prohibits “junk fees” and the practice of advertising a price that is less than the actual price that a consumer will need to pay for a good or service. Consistent with this law, GoFan has already responded and made the required changes. No action is needed from schools.

How GoFan Meets Fee Display Requirements

With GoFan, schools have the option to absorb the fee or pass the fee onto the ticket buyer. For schools that absorb the fees, nothing has changed.

For schools that pass the fee to the ticket buyer, fees are displayed upfront. Ticket buyers will see a fee-inclusive total price before starting the purchase process.

GoFan Commitment to the Consumer Experience

GoFan will continue to evolve our product to meet emerging compliance requirements and consumer expectations. We look forward to continuing to serve schools and communities throughout California and elevating the event experience.
