Kingston Middle and High School: Creating Access for Fans

Fans of Kingston Middle and High School in Washington can access events and support their teams online with streaming and digital ticketing. Fans attending events enjoy the speed and convenience of GoFan for buying tickets and getting in the stands on game days. With the NFHS Network, Kingston fans never miss a moment even if they can’t be there in person.

Before joining the NFHS Network, Edward Call, Athletic Director, made the effort to record games with his phone or tripod camera so fans could watch from afar.

“Every single event that we had, home or away, if I was available, I was there with my phone… there wasn’t enough of me to go around,” Call said. “When I saw the NFHS Network advertise, we’ll give you a Pixellot camera in the gym and at the field... install covered... and all we've got to do is go forward... it's fantastic.”

Upgrading to the NFHS Network has given Kingston fans and visiting fans an enhanced viewing experience. Call regularly hears from his community about the Network.

“I know that everybody that does watch it, they’re pretty quick to send emails: ‘Thank you for letting me see my grandkids play,’ ‘Hey I was at work and I was on shift and I had to be there, but I was able to watch my kids,’” Call said.

Streaming games on the NFHS Network was not the only upgrade that Call brought to Kingston Middle and High School. Call needed a digital ticketing option that would drastically improve the financial reporting process. In the state of Washington, bank deposits must be made daily.

Cash reconciliation after each event often takes several hours, which creates unnecessary work and security concerns.

“Handling cash was so complicated, especially because in our state, we have to make deposits to the bank every single night,” Call said. “Which means, I’m running around with the cash box or our bookkeeper’s running around with the cash box. It’s very inconvenient.”

To streamline the reconciliation process, Call began searching for a digital solution. He was already familiar with GoFan from state and district adoption.

“We were looking at digital platforms… because our state started using GoFan for the playoffs and our district started using it for the district playoffs, it just seemed like the logical step,” Call said. “Since we got it, it’s been seamless, it’s been great. I love the daily reports. The finances are easy to follow. I know exactly how much money we made from last night’s basketball game.”

Along with saving time for busy administrators, GoFan has a user-friendly interface for fans that Call and his community appreciate.

“I’m not a super tech guy. It was very smooth, easy to do - would highly recommend,” Call said.

At the root of all the enhancements in streaming and digital ticketing is Call’s commitment to his students and fans.

“It’s the coolest job,” Call said. “I came from a classroom. I miss the classroom. I came from a court myself - I was a volleyball coach, and I miss that. Being the Athletic Director is a really cool job. It’s really good to be me.”
