McIntosh High School: All-in-One Event Management and Fan Engagement

Leon Hammond, Athletic Director at McIntosh High School, uses the complete PlayOn platform to save time and enhance the fan experience. Hammond says that his passion for athletics and student success is why he loves his job.

“I love sports,” Hammond said. “So I love being able to attend athletic events… when kids get the opportunity to experience success on the field and potentially go on to the secondary level to play, it’s just rewarding to see them be able to experience their dreams.”

Providing student-athletes with opportunities to chase their dreams requires significant time, organization, communication, reporting, and much more. One key element of successful event management is pre-event scheduling, and Hammond credits rSchoolToday as a great solution.

“It really compartmentalized everything into one so we had a one-stop-shop for when we had a game: if we had a game change, what admins were working, SROs that were working, gate workers that were working, coaches being able to make those changes… from a scheduling standpoint it’s made our lives easier,” Hammond said.

The next step in creating a great event is elevating the experience for fans. The NFHS Network provides opportunities for those who can’t make it to the game to watch every second of the action through live or on-demand streaming. Hammond also praises the NFHS Network for giving his programs a wider reach.

“We’re able to reach a bigger market,” Hammond said. “We’re able to sell some advertisements which, obviously, making money for all our sports is beneficial, so it’s been a big help for us.”

Along with streaming, McIntosh elevates the in-game experience with GoFan digital ticketing. Fans enjoy shorter lines and faster entry into events along with the convenience and security of digital payments.

The final piece of the puzzle is post-event reconciliation. Making sure all money is accounted for and correctly reported can be a hassle. Hammond says that GoFan has made this process smoother than ever.

“The ability to get our reports next day to know what we made, to know how successful we were at the gates is an added bonus.”
