Millwood High School: Saving Time to Focus on What Matters

Millwood High School: Saving Time to Focus on What Matters

A few years ago, Shannon Hayes looked on as one of his student-athletes made the game-winning shot in a state championship basketball game for Millwood Public Schools. Hayes recalled this as his favorite moment as an Athletic Director.

“This young man the night before, he almost lost the game for us to where we weren’t going to play in the championship,” Hayes said. “He gets in the game, and he talks to the point guard saying, ‘Hey trust me, I got it’... he shoots the shot and makes it. It was about believing in your team and trusting in one another... that brought chills down my spine.”

When Hayes became the Athletic Director at Millwood High School in Oklahoma City, he took on many responsibilities outside of his job title. In addition to his role as Athletic Director, he was the Technology Director, Head Basketball Coach, and Head Track Coach

With the limited bandwidth Hayes had, he needed a platform that could streamline athletic management. Luckily for Millwood High School, Hayes found rSchoolToday and hasn’t looked back.

“I had 700,000 forms,” Hayes said. “Physicals, concussion forms, insurance - all this that I had to deal with... it just made things so easy to where I didn’t have to deal with all of those things.”

Streaming Millwood athletics to fans was also a high priority for Hayes. With automated production of broadcasts, Hayes didn’t need to worry about managing camera crews and could focus on other aspects of his job.

“I’m a small school district, so a lot that I have is because I don’t have the people that can do it,” Hayes said. “So having a service that can specialize in that, takes that stress off me of going to make sure the camera started, making sure everything is right...”

With GoFan, the NFHS Network, and rSchoolToday, Hayes saves time to focus on the Millwood students and community.
