Nipmuc High School: Success Beyond Expectations

Nipmuc High School: Success Beyond Expectations

When asked about his favorite part of being an Athletic Director, Chris Schmidt of Nipmuc Regional High School in Massachusetts acknowledged the positivity he experiences in this role.

“I was an assistant principal, and about 80% of the conversations were negative,” Schmidt said. “Then I became an Athletic Director. 80% of the conversations I have are positive.”

Those positive conversations can come from a variety of topics such as accomplishments, milestones, athletic events, performing arts events, and much more. Schmidt ensures that fans who can’t attend in person can still witness the great moments of Nipmuc Regional High School athletics by streaming on the NFHS Network.

The big thing is that grandparent that lives in Florida or lives out west, somewhere warm - now they can watch their grandkids,” Schmidt said.

Along with accessibility, Schmidt recognizes the affordability of their streaming and coaching analytics.

“It’s something that was affordable,” Schmidt said. “There are other companies out there, and as we are a smaller school, we just couldn’t afford what they offered. So for us, VidSwap and the  NFHS Network were affordable and gave us what we needed at the time.”

The NFHS Network partners with Pixellot for the AI-powered cameras that automatically track the action and stream events. Schools that broadcast with the NFHS Network can access VidSwap coaching analytics through Pixellot. VidSwap is significantly less expensive than other coaching analytics platforms, creating opportunities for schools and teams who may need access to advanced coaching tools.

With the NFHS Network, Schmidt has provided an elevated experience for fans who are unable to attend events in person. With GoFan, he saves significant time and enhances the in-person event experience.

“On game day, typically you have people who run the gates and ticket takers, so we don’t have to worry about any of that,” Schmidt said. “Then of course on the backend when you’re reconciling everything and making sure everything equals, we don’t have to worry about that either. It’s great.”

With the combined use of GoFan and the NFHS Network, Schmidt can provide student-athletes with the platform to showcase their abilities and give fans the best event experience to watch the athletes compete for their school.

“When you see either individual kids or teams succeed beyond what maybe they thought they could do or other people thought they could do, and you watch that, it’s a special moment,” Schmidt said.
