Basha High School: Improved Accessibility with GoFan and the NFHS Network

Being an athletic director comes with much organizing, planning, management, and many more undecorated tasks. Eric Magana, Athletic Director at Basha High School in Arizona, loves the personal connections he gets to make with the student-athletes in his role.

“Getting to know them, getting to see them excel, be successful on and off the court, field, wherever they might be, so that’s probably the best part about the job,” Magana said.

While Magana appreciates seeing his students compete, he also works to ensure others can watch the athletes of Basha High School by streaming the games with the NFHS Network.

“It gives family members who are not in Arizona an opportunity to see their grandchildren play or their nieces or nephews play,” Magana said. “It provides that platform and it gives them that accessibility to be able to see their loved ones participate in athletics.”

Accessibility is an important aspect of running a high school athletics program, whether it’s watching games from afar or being aware of upcoming events. Magana says that GoFan has been a big help in giving Basha High School and the Basha High School fans that accessibility.

“For us, it’s awesome because we have the dashboard that we can take a look at and see our ticket sales,” Magana said. “Anyone can go on the website for GoFan and really take a look and see what’s on the horizon.”

Along with a user-friendly platform, Magana shares that exceptional customer service has been especially helpful when adopting new technology for ticketing and streaming. He has high praise for the PlayOn Customer Success team and shares that someone always responds right away to help whenever he needs assistance.

With the time he saves managing his ticketing and streaming events, Magana can focus more on his student-athletes and help them take their talents to the next level. He takes pride in creating opportunities for them to succeed and gain support from fans watching in the stands and online.

“We’ve had kids commit to Oregon and Ohio State and all these other big schools,” Magana said. “When you get to see those moments where you see the culmination of their hard work and the support of their parents and their family… it’s an awesome feeling to know that you were helpful.”
