Kat McCreery, Assistant Athletics Director at Mundelein High School, has an extensive background in education-based athletics. She has coached every level from sixth grade all the way up through college, and there’s one aspect that she has loved at every level.
“Having an impact on students’ lives,” McCreery said. “Building great humans in an educational-based athletics environment.”
Operating education-based athletics is a balancing act for athletic directors. Not only must they ensure student-athletes are equipped with everything they need to succeed in their sport, but they also must make sure fans have a great event experience, take care of backend finances, and much more. For McCreery, GoFan was the best solution for the Mundelein High School staff and community.
“It’s been a great experience, frankly, for us,” McCreery said. “It has decreased how long it takes for our fans to get into contests, which is huge... our fans enjoy purchasing a ticket and getting into the game within a minute or two vs. waiting in a line for 45 minutes.”
Assigning gate workers and making sure they handle cash properly can put a lot of unnecessary stress on ADs who don’t use digital ticketing.
“You don’t have to be trained in cash sales, which is difficult in a public-school environment to entrust someone with cash that has little to no training,” McCreery said.
However, since switching to GoFan, training gate workers is easier than ever. McCreery stated, “I send them an email showing them our different ticket types, showing them some troubleshooting videos, how to utilize GoFan, and by the time they show up, they’re experts.”
Along with the ease of use of the GoFan platform, McCreery affirms that the Customer Success team has been instrumental to their transition to digital ticketing.
“Customer service has been fantastic,” McCreery said. “People get right back to me when I have questions.”
